I have included a link to the article which ran in the Gloucester County Times. Anyone with direct knowledge of this incident who knows that Robert Strang and our 17 yr. old son did NOT assault the sheriff's officer as they are being accused---please come forward with information. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. Please feel free to post comments to the site.

WOODBURY A 63-year-old Indiana man was reportedly jumped and beaten by family members in the parking lot of the Hunter Street Justice Complex Thursday, moments after defeating charges that he molested his granddaughter.

Wayne Strang, of Churubusco, Indiana, was acquitted Thursday of all charges related to the alleged sexual assault of his granddaughter in Deptford Township, explained Bernie Weisenfeld, spokesman for the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.

But outside the courthouse, Wayne Strang was allegedly attacked by members of the Strang family in the municipal parking lot at the corner of Hunter and Euclid streets.

"After the hearing some of the family members were not happy with the outcome and apparently attacked (Wayne Strang)," said Sgt. Kevin Outten, of the Woodbury Police Delta Squad.

Robert Strang, 37, of Salem, Indiana, and his 17-year-old son are accused of punching a sheriff's officer in the face during the attack on Wayne Strang until the officer pepper-sprayed the two men in the face.

"The officer acted swiftly and professionally in subduing them quickly," said Undersheriff Chuck O'Leary of the incident.

As the two Strang men lay on the pavement, 37-year-old Stormy Sharp, the mother of the 17-year-old and the alleged victim, approached the scene and began to yell obscenities at Wayne Strang and police officers.

"She shows up at the scene and is acting disorderly shouting obscenities," said Outten.

Sharp was arrested for disorderly conduct and released without bail. Her 17-year-old son was charged with simple assault and aggravated assault on a police officer. He was released to the custody of his mother, police said.

Robert Strang was charged with simple assault and aggravated assault on a police officer and was housed in the Gloucester County Jail in lieu of $5,000 full cash bail.

Wayne Strang was transported to Underwood-Memorial Hospital to be treated for abrasions on his head.

"He had some abrasions on his head, which would not be from a punch, so they are probably from the parking lot," said Outten.

The 63-year-old was previously accused of molesting his granddaughter and was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, four counts of sexual assault and two counts of aggravated sexual assault.
