Our child is classified Autistic and receives some specialized education with assistance from a Dr. in School Psychology at the high school. Recently I made a statement concerning one of our child's teachers who wasn't adhering to our child's educational plan, nor was he doing what is required of him. When asked, by the Dr., what I'd do about the continuing problem, I said "If he doesn't do what is required of him, I'll rip him a new one". The good Dr. wrote a note leaving out the "if" and gave it to the teacher. The teacher then wrote me a rather scathing attack commenting on my "THREAT", quoted the law (incorrectly) as it pertains to harassment and stated that he would not have contact with us again (even though it is required under the terms of my Childs IEP - Individual Education Plan). A meeting with the Dr. and Principal only resolved that the good Dr. not only can't take notes but misquoted me and took the quote out of context. The Dr. wrote a note (misquoted) put it in front of the teacher, and stated that I said what was written, with no reference to the context of the discussion. NOT SO! Several additional e-mails have not produced the promised meeting with the teacher to resolve the issue. Our child's education is being shortchanged as we don't have the benefit of the required contact with this teacher, we only get the required reports through another intermediary teacher, and if I make too big a stink, it could backfire against my child as these people just don't want to correct the problem, let alone find one or two of their own at fault. I need to stop this rampant abuse and get some level of responsibility established. This has gone on for 6+1/2 months! The question is how to get any response without endangering our child's progress? The school is hoping we'll just forget this travesty, and that's not going to happen. I've contacted the principal twice and only received vague "I'll get back to you". I really need some help, please. Thank you.
