In NJ, are there any laws that protect drivers from a pedestrian who intentionally or neglectfully, walks or runs in front of a moving vehicle?

On one extreme, what prevents a driver from being charge with assault in the event an individual desires to commit suicide by running in front of a fast-moving car?

On another extreme, if a individual jumps onto a slow moving vehicle or in front of a slow moving vehicle in an attempt to get a driver to stop?

If a pedestrian runs out in front of your car in a careless manner he can be sued for negligence.

A driver would not be charged with assault if he was driving in a reasonable and careful manner.
