My wife just lost her job at a private school and she was just hired 2 months ago. She didn't start on salary till the beginning of September school year. My wife was hired prior to 3 others who also started this school year. In the contract it states they can let you go at anytime without reason but without discrimination. They gave her no reason for being let go during the termination except the schools numbers are down. They also let 1 other person go who was hired after her this school year. From what I understand, they have been using this practice for years and it seems like it is a hiring and firing game. It seems unfair to let 2 people go without an explanation and they just hired another teacher in the same position 2 weeks ago because someone else left. Do we have a case here? I can't imagine hiring someone else and then terminating two employees at the school without any prior notification of a conflict with performance. Please help!
