My attorney keeps leaving me in limbo.I've had to reduce the sale price of the marital home 3x since 3/09.Financials are still being witheld to somehow get a gage on income stream/business value that has been in business 18yrs.The tax returns in no way substantiate our life style. He refuses to offer any settlement except my portion of whats left from the sale and notes paid.Do I have an argument now to halt the sale with this being only other assest he may very well owe me more than his equitable share of house equity.Contract is up 9/5 and he's filed a motion to drastically reduce another 30,000$ to stimulate interest.

In this crappy real estate market it is wise to reduce the price to generate interest. This is my opinion. I closely follow the most accurate economists and market analysts. There is an extremely good chance that your NJ home will be worth less one year from now. You should try to drop the price now and not wait until September. Unload it asap!

As far as uncovering his other assets/income, that is your lawyer's job. Maybe you need to remond him of that.

Eagle is spot on with this as far as a selling technique goes. I have seen countless people pass up their first, second, and fifth offer -- only to settle for their sixth which A LOT less compared with their other offers.

Not to mention the carrying costs.

The very best strategy in this market is:

1) Make the house look as move-in ready as possible.
2) Price the house BELOW what it would REALLY sell for (not the dream in your head). and then create frenzy where YOU are the one entertaining various offers.
