Adoption of my birth child

I gave birth to a child on 4/18/08. My x partner who i became divorced from in October of 08 has just filed for adoption of my son. This is crazy. If a judge grants this I can just go adopt any kid I want off of the street. What are the laws in NJ. My son is a product of a sperm donor.

When you say "partner" do you mean someone of the same sex as you? If this is the case then I don't know how the court would rule because same sex marriage is a new thing and laws applying to traditional marriage may or may not apply. In custody disputes in traditional marriages the wife often gets custody based on the "best interests of the child", but in a same sex marriage which one is the wife?

Yes this is from a lesbian marriage. Married on June 30 2007 and Divorced Oct. 10 2008. She moved out in July. of 2008. The bottom line is I would never have anyone adopt my 1 son and not my other children. I chose to make this baby. I chose the donor. I went to prenatal visits. I gave birth in Philadelphia. She did not want the baby and now just wants to make my life miserable. I am this childs mother, he is from my loins. Any person adopting my child before he is 18 years old should be my decision no one elses. That takes away my parental rights. I could file a petition and adopt your child. Oh my friend just had a baby let me adopt her child. NO that is not how it works. When I filled out the birth certificate information she could not even be found. When I got birth announcements she was not included. She is not and never will be any relation to this child.
