If you read the STS-33 form http://www.njguns.com/sts-033.pdf it appears that you do not have to mention an expunged criminal conviction. Look at question 18.
Your Jury duty does not have anything to do with getting a gun permit.
By the way, what type of gun are thinking of buying? I was intending to apply for a permit too. I really don't like what I see happening to this country and I have a feeling thing can get a lot worse. I would feel more comforatble knowing I was armed. I was thinking of a 9mm.
