I am trying to find out about repo fees. If a repo company comes to repo your car even though your loan is current, with the repo order from the dealer due to the down payment check not clearing, would the owner be liable for the repo fee if he pays the repo man the amount of the bad check prior to the car being put on the truck.

I would look at all the paper work you received when you bought the car. Look at the sales contract and finance documents and see if anything is said about repo fees.

Secondly, if the repo person accepted the payment on the spot then I would doubt you would be liable for the fee (unless you agreed to it in the paperwork).

I'm surprised the dealer didn't call you first about the issue. That would have been the simplest way to resolve the mater.
